GENERAL

A radar wind profiler (RWP) is a pulse Doppler radar system, utilized to measure wind profiles from near ground to as high as 20 Km.  RWP systems typically operate between 50 MHz and 1.2 GHz, and use phase-array antenna systems.  The antenna points vertically, directly above the radar.   The new ATI RWPs are designed around original and proprietary antenna, receiver, and signal processing techniques.  These new systems have been carefully developed for ease of use, low maintenance and for long-term unattended operation.  The overall RWP design can be scaled for high altitude, mid altitude, or boundary-layer coverage, through the use of varied frequencies, antenna sizes and transmitted power. The core technology of the ATI RWP is the data system, which is responsible for the control, signal generation, and basic data processing of the complete radar.  Part of the data system software is an Advanced Signal Detection (ASD) module, which performs all of the high-level data processing and uses specialized time-height continuity algorithms to screen out interference and other contaminates to the wind data.   Should the customer not have the capabilities to provide maintenance and/or to properly process the data for use in data reports, service contracts are available.

 PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATIONS

The ATI antenna system utilizes full beam steering and individual Yagi or micro-patch antenna elements.  This allows the system to have a very good sidelobe pattern (over traditional co-co antennas) and will eventually allow for spaced antenna and Velocity Azimuth Display (VAD) signal processing techniques with little or no changes to the antenna.  The antenna also utilizes solid-state phase-shifters for high reliability.

SPECIFICATIONS

The radar is usually built to the customer’s requirements.  Please ask ATI how they can help with your requirements.
